Leaf Platter – SOLD

Leaf platter is a wheel thrown piece with a turned foot. I draw and brush on layers of colour and carve back through the layers creating the illusion of depth on the surface. The photo does not show this well. I mix my colours and each mix is intuitive- not made to a specific recipe. I find this adds to the uniqueness of the work and is not unlike using paint on canvas.

The leaf design is inspired by Eucalypt leaves I found near my studio that  are up to 30cm long. They are a pale green in colour and often have small sections eaten out of them by insects.

Fired to 1260 using a white stoneware clay.

This piece stands 31cm rim x 3cm high
