Eucalypt
One in an ongoing series, I am inspired by a huge Eucalypt in my front yard. So many large trees are being removed unnecessarily. Many are healthy and manageable providing safety and nesting for so many larger birds, owls, bats and all other species that live on them.
This form is wheel thrown. The seeds and branches from the tree are carefully pushed into the surface of the clay. Colour is applied in the indents. The inside and rim of the piece is glazed with a clear glaze. Buff Stoneware clay fired to 1260.
