Large Leaf Bowl – SOLD

Leaf bowl is a wheel thrown piece with a turned foot.I draw and brush on layers of colour and carve back through the layers creating the illusion of depth on the surface. The photo does not show this well.

I mix my colours and each mix is intuitive- not made to a specific recipe. I find this adds to the uniqueness of the work and is not unlike using paint on canvas.

The theme running through my practice is the healing qualities of Australian Wildflowers used as essences. The works are not botanical representations but are intuitive feelings I have as I decorate.

The leaf design is inspired by Eucalypt leaves I found near my studio that  are up to 30cm long. They are a pale green in colour and often have small sections eaten out of them by insects.

Fired to 1260 using a white stoneware clay.

This piece stands 28cm rim x 12cm high
