Silver Princess

Silver Princess is a wheel thrown form.The base has felt pads attached. When the clay is leather hard the surface is carved with the design. After the first firing(the bisque), coloured stains are brushed into the carved areas. I then sponge off the excess colour to leave it only in the indents. A clear glaze is poured on the inside and the rim of the vase and brushed onto areas that have been coloured to create a slight shine on the coloured areas of the piece.

The theme running through my practice is the healing qualities of Australian Wildflowers used as essences. The works are not botanical representations but are intuitive feelings I have as I decorate.

Silver Princess is a rare eucalyptus found in the South West of Western Australia. Its essence brings about an awareness of ones life direction.  It enables motivation, direction and life purpose. Australian wildflower essences by Ian White

This piece stands 14cm high
